Data Analytics Interfaces
How to use Query Builder to generate configurable reports to analyse your data
Overview
ActiveNav Cloud has configurable reports to enable analysts to identify target data quickly and easily using the Query Builder from both the Analyst and Profile views. These views are built on the existing ActiveNav concepts of repositories, business units, geolocations, and scoring.
Generating a Report
Set your query parameters in Query Builder, then click the Generate Report button to submit the request.
ActiveNav Cloud displays the report viewer’s statistics page, showing a summary of your query results. This page allows you to quickly gauge if the results are in line with your expectations. To modify your query, click the Close button, change the query parameters, and regenerate your report.
The report viewer includes two additional tabs to help you decide if your query is providing you with expected results. The second tab is a grid of responsive objects or containers. This grid shows the first 1000 entries in the report.
The column control widget () in the top right of the screen allows you to select columns to show or hide.
The third tab is accessible from the hierarchy icon () next to each item in the grid. Clicking this icon opens a map in the location of the selected object or container.
- Refocus the map to a new location by clicking on a container circle.
- Shift + left-click to open a details panel for the target container.
- Zoom in by shift + left-clicking and dragging a rectangle around a target area. Alternatively, use the zoom control on the right-hand side of the map or your mouse scroll-wheel.
Exports
Validation Report Exports
The report viewer can export two types of report: object reports, and container reports. Reports are comma-separated values (CSV) manifests that list the details of each item.
Report Type | Available Export Commands | |
Object Report | Export Objects generates a file that lists the objects returned by the query. | Export Containers for Objects generates a file that lists the containers that have objects returned by the query. |
Container Report | Export Containers generates a file that lists the containers returned by the query. | Export Container Objects generates a file that lists the objects in the containers returned by the query |
Hierarchy Exports
The Hierarchy tab can be used to target up to 10 containers or hierarchies to allow for more granular reporting.
To use this method, the Hierarchy tab must first be enabled as described earlier in this article. Navigate around the hierarchy view and tag the containers you wish to include in your report by hovering and tagging.Once your selection is complete, click on the drop down at the top right to reveal the export dialog.
Here, you can review your selected containers and remove them if required.
The Export Content selection is contextual and will change depending on whether you are running an object or container report. Either way, you will have the option to export objects or containers.
The Export Scope gives the option of whether to export just the selected containers or the container hierarchy. The latter option will export the selected containers and all child containers.
Note - While there is a limit of 10 selectable items, choosing Container Hierarchy as the export scope allows your export to include up to 10 hierarchies. This means the selected containers and their children will be exported.
