Network Location Displays 0 Bytes [0 B] When it Contains Files

Sometimes, the Network map will show locations as being empty, when in fact, they contain files. While this seems wrong, it is likely due to a missing step in the process of Discovering locations with Discovery Center.

By default, network locations that have yet to be skimmed are recorded as having 0 Bytes. The status of a network location can be confirmed by reviewing the Network Map tab and clicking on the location in question. Locations that have yet to be skimmed will be reported as 'The resource has been discovered by the Active Navigation software but not been skimmed yet.'

Resolution

This can be resolved by running an index containing the location in question. If running indexes is unclear, please review the help documentation by clicking the help button in Discovery Center in the top right of the web page.
