When attempting to add a location to the Network Map, the error message 'The given path already exists. Parameter name:path' is displayed. This occurs even if the 'Show hidden locations' check box is selected and the subject location remains hidden.
We have seen cases where a location becomes hidden from the Network Map while still present in the Discovery Center database. In such a case, attempting to add that location will fail because the database cannot contain the same location more than once.
Resolution
The suggested workaround for this problem is to create a temporary placeholder location that is a peer of the hidden location, which will force a re-calculation of the parent location's children. The hidden location will be revealed in the Network Map and the temporary placeholder location can then be deleted.
For example, where the location '\\server\parent_folder\hidden_folder' cannot be added to the Network Map, complete the following steps:
- In the Network Map tab, add a temporary placeholder location ('\\server\parent_folder\placeholder\').
- Click 'Add Location' to add the placeholder to the Network Map, which will force it's peer '\\server\parent_folder\hidden_folder' to re-populate.
- Clear the temporary placeholder by selecting the location and then click 'Delete location'.
