With release 4.14.0, Discovery Center has an updated SharePoint connector. The new connector will bring faster performance when scanning documents and better protection against SharePoint Online throttling.
If you plan to upgrade Discovery Center to use the new SharePoint Connector, please contact ActiveNav Support for guidance.
Key Differences
There are important differences between the legacy connector and the new connector. These differences will have an impact on how and when you decide to upgrade Discovery Center.
- The new interface used by the new connector is only supported by SharePoint 2013 – 2019 and SharePoint Online.
- The legacy connector will not update or re-process existing indexes or create new network locations. The legacy connector will allow you to generate reports from existing indexes and perform actions on documents contained in reports.
- SharePoint Online credentials for the new connector require additional configuration within Discovery Center and Azure Active Directory.

Procedure
The general procedure for upgrading Discovery Center remains the same. Once the software has been upgraded, the SharePoint network locations will be described as "SharePoint Connector (Legacy)". At this stage you will be able to generate reports and perform actions on documents that exist in these locations.
If you wish to take advantage of the features of the new SharePoint Connector for existing network locations, you must upgrade the legacy locations, and configure a new credential.
Upgrading Legacy Locations
You can upgrade these legacy locations so they are compatible with the new connector by following our guide: Upgrading Legacy SharePoint Locations
Credentials
The new SharePoint Connector uses a new credential type, Azure App Certificate. See the article Configuring Azure AD for SharePoint Online for how to set this up. Once the credentials are saved in Discovery Center, associate them with the target network location. At this point, you can re-index the newly upgraded SharePoint locations.
Note that on-premise SharePoint locations will continue to utilise username and password based credentials
