Improved Interfaces for Data Analytics

ActiveNav Cloud has new interfaces to enable analysts to identify target data more quickly and easily. These interfaces have additional controls for sorting and filtering object and container reports. A new report viewer shows the overall statistics, the top returned entries, and a view into the data location in your inventory. The new Analyst and Profile views are built on the existing ActiveNav concepts of repositories, business units, geolocations, and scoring, allowing easy adoption of the new interface.

Overview

The new views for Analyst and Profile replace the dynamic hotspot list with a query builder. The query builder adds a set of sorting dimensions and expands the list of filter dimensions for reports. Analysts no longer need to expand the Actions menu to choose filters – sorting and filtering options are always visible in the query builder.

Generating a Report

Set your query parameters, then click the Generate Report button to submit the request. ActiveNav Cloud displays the report viewer’s statistics page, showing a summary of your query results. This page allows you to quickly gauge if the results are in line with your expectations. To modify your query, click the Close button, change the query parameters, and regenerate your report.

The report viewer includes two additional tabs to help you decide if your query is providing you with expected results. The second tab is a grid of responsive objects or containers. This grid shows the first 1000 entries in the report. The column control widget () in the top right of the screen allows you to select columns to show or hide.

The third tab is accessible from the hierarchy icon () next to each item in the grid. Clicking this icon opens a map in the location of the selected object or container.

  • Refocus the map to a new location by clicking on a container circle.
  • Shift-left-click to open a details panel for the target container.
  • Zoom in by shift-left-clicking and dragging a rectangle around a target area. Alternatively, use the zoom control on the right-hand side of the map.

Exports

The report viewer can export two types of report: object reports, and container reports. Reports are comma-separated values (CSV) manifests that list the details of each item.

Report Type

Available Export Commands

Object Report

Export Objects generates a file that lists the objects returned by the query.

Export Containers for Objects generates a file that lists the containers that have objects returned by the query.

Container Report

Export Containers generates a file that lists the containers returned by the query.

Export Container Objects generates a file that lists the objects in the containers returned by the query.
